Anyone here reloading shotgun?
not right now
Neither am I as my press isnt here :D
What hulls were you using?
Tried Fiocchi oneS?
Nah, I picked up a box of primed and shrived winchesters (500) cheap a few years ago,see me out
I just brought a press as the Mrs wants to shoot skeet also and have a good source of cheap sea freigth from the US for lead etc - the numbers now make sense to reload 12g.
I understand that the selction of wads to hull etc is a big thing, along with primers
I'll be using Fiocchi hulls as can get unlimited amount of free ones from the club, but other that that, I'm in the reseach phase
Spanners if you want some hulls and other bits I've got some lying around that I'll never use, for the cost of postage you can have them.
That would be good, what flavour are they?
Been a while since I have done it but I remember Brownies hulls being fickle, they sometimes crushed a bit but worked well enough. You can reload cheaper than you can buy a box of Club 9's?.
There must be somone using Win AA ammo at the club? I used to scrounge all them up.
With the freight connections I have ex US, lead and wads just became a SHITLOAD cheaper.
Mrs is goign to be shooting skeet also, so figured why not
AA hulls.. all the old boys keep their prized hulls to themselves. :)
I can get a bunch of once fired AA ones ex US for under $100nz/1000 so may just do that
Thats a good price. Some of the club members probably had way to much money and left them for me and any other tight asses to pick up. I will have a look when I get home and see what I have got and you can have it. I know I have around a kg of lead, just not sure on the size. I had an old mech press that got chucked in the offal hole after it had to many bits fall off it.
All good info - thanks
Looks like those Win AA hulls should do the job
How many loadings would you expect out of them - so I can gauge how many to get...
i got my AA of trade me
i use them for slugs
and shooting over paddics
Sweet - so a couple of k should last a while then
Its all new to me.... spose i better order a book or 2 for loads
You would think so but if you get into it as well then it wont go too far. Use 24 gram loads of nine's or eight's on skeet some green dot and your away.
What wads was that load for and how much Green Dot?
IIRC red dot was faster but the green dot was a mild push and got consistant patterns. Tightwad? or winchester were the 24 gram wads and gave the best crimps. W209 primers and I think, so research this, was around 24-25 grains powder. It was the standard olympic load for isu skeet IIRC again.
She will appreciate and dare I say shoot better with a 24 gram load. I shoot them in white gold 7 1/2 for skeet.
Anyone got any good contacts for bismuth shot....I am looking for a few pounds of 4s or 5s.
I looked around for bismuth a couple of years ago and couldn't find any. I'm interested as well.
