    anyone reloading 30-30

    Hi there.
I've just got my first lever gun and looking for some pointers in reloading 30-30 for it.
Anyone got a sensible recipe and projectile choice?

    cheers.

You'll be needing flat point projectiles for use in the tubular magazine and you should also crimp them in place to prevent any shifting if the projectile in the case under recoil

    Cheers

Thats not your standard 366. Short barrel, barrel band, straight stock and square lever equals a Marlin Texan the yanks love em

Yep, loaded some Sierra 125gr flat nose hollow point in front of 34gr of AR2208 last night.

I usually use 150 or 170gr flatnose, Hornady or Sierra. Use same projectiles in 308 as well, devasating on goats .I always full-length size, and always crimp nowadays. I originally didn't crimp, but could see projectiles moving further into the case after a trip or two in the magazine.

I'll have to check my notebook for the 150 and 170 powder charge.

150 gr HP cast from Rob in Tokoroa. Bloody good cheap projectiles. Shot everything with mine from rabbits to red deer.
Nothing is tough about having a 70 lb bow and looking like an uncoordinated praying mantis while trying to draw it back.

Cast 170 gr lee flat nose 10 gr herculese blue dot eveything from pigs to rabbits with these hadly ever use jacketed now but whenI do they are speer 150 gr rn over 33 gr of ar 2206h.
These bullets dont have a cannelure for crimping but if you get a lee factory crimp die you can crimp any type of projectile

My 81 Texan shoots best with factory Leverevolution 1" at 100 yds. I have reloaded the 160 gr ftx with Lererevolution powder but not tried the reloads in the Texan as I still have 4 box's of factory. My Win 94 and Rem 788 bolt both shoot better with 170 gr fp.
