Thread: Anyone using 9mm rifle? What performance are you getting

I am thinking of a 9mm rifle as a cheap to load, cheap to feed rifle. To help me decide I have a few questions.

Is there anything in a bolt action out there? Or is everything semi auto?
Is it similar to 38special like the Rossi Puma?

What sort of ballistics (velocity, and bullet weight ) are you getting?
What sort of effective range would it have as a hunter?

I figure with a case and projectile it would be a fairly close range rifle for goats and the like, but it looks intriguing and that is what looks interesting . Or are these really a plinker with so many other better options out there?

I've got a semi, only shoot plates and targets with it for the most part, it has taken a goat though. The longer barrel helps, 14.5" takes a 124gr cmj to 1300fps with 3.8gr of titegroup

I shoot a Marlin Camp 9. Struggle to find a bullet soft enough for good expansion on goats. Tends to drill holes.
