Thread: auto measure machines

well after 15 or more years of faithful service, my old original RCBS chargemaster went bang
thinking it might be just the motor we replaced but unfortunately, it's much worse the thing is dead

I have to replace it early next year as I'm sure I'll be overdoing things manually by then man that's time-consuming

do I go for another RCBS or? Is the question

Is it just the dispenser side or the scale side that has ‘let the smoke out’

scale still works

I think you can buy just the back half on its own. If not, consider that if you replace like for like, you have a spare front half and no learning curve.

Having had a cursory look online, it seems like buying the front half, back half or both halves is a thing of the past.

yea the new models are completely non-compatible with the old ones so no point bothering worrying about having the old one for parts

If you were happy with it, just go the same again. I'm enjoying my Hornady version so far, I get what you mean regarding doing things manually, this thing has ruined me haha.

15 years service is not bad when you consider the cost per year of buying it, I have the chargemaster mini and have been very happy with it.
I don't think you'll regret buying another RCBS they certainly save a lot of time

I just brought the Hornady Auto Charge Pro loving it after using beam scales for over 40 years.

Im not complaining that’s for sure
I think 15years is probably more than reasonable as far as lifespan goes for an electric gadget

@rambo-6mmrem just toughen up and do it the old fashion way more in keeping with a faux old rifles you are competing with at long range

Leaves you with $1k too spend on genuine vintage rifles
That's enough too buy a couple of nice looking rifles with sewer pipe bores

Ah NO loading 100 rounds for a match is wayy time consuming doing it the old way

What about a manual measure/ thrower....they are very accurate from the two I've used...check every tenth?? Round and peer down into tray of filled cases before adding projectiles to make sure you've charged them all. It's plurry quick.

No where near as accurate
Need to throw low then trickle up manually

Plus it’s still hands on

With the auto thrower you can be seating bullets while the next charge is sorting itself out on the background
Literally saves hours of work

I don’t enjoy reloading in fact i hate it so the least amount of time possible doing something I don’t enjoy so I can go and do what I do enjoy which is shooting

Check out the Hornady one I'm super impressed, Back Fire on YouTube did a test on all those common ones and Hornady came out on top.
It's super accurate

just be aware (as I'm sure you already are) youtube reviews are only as good as the bias of the person doing the review, I watched a similar review from ultimate reloader that put RCBS top of the heap, I'm sure they are pretty similar in all reality so buy what ever you can get for the most attractive price....except the Lyman I have never been overly impressed with the repeatability of Lyman auto dispensers despite viewing many favourable reviews.
