    Barnes in 243

    Hi Guys

So looking to expand the relaoding to the 243, figure the more practise I get the better.

Also planning on doing my range officers course in a couple of weeks so will probably do some more time up there so figured would be good to get to work on this.

Have had a look and seem to be 2 barnes projectiles available

80gr TTSX and 85 gr Barnes TSX

Was thinking TTSX for this one(if they fit in Magazine), can any one give me an idea of effective range on these, was planning on doing a couple of Chamois hunts so definitely to 300 but if effective range could be longer then I will put in some hard yards at the range to get me comfortable.

May look at SST's for the longer range if required.

I have checked loading data and they list loads for Varget which I have, is there a better powder for this application, 2206 or maybe superformance?

    Cheers guys

    Dino

AR2209 tends to work well in .243 I find it fills the case well and gives good consistancy, but many people do seem to have success with Varget/2208.

Iv used varget with 95 and 100 gr which should be too fast and got good velocitys and great accuracy.
Should be even better with lighter weight projectiles.

I use 80gnttsx 46.5 gn 2208 getting 3253fps. And good groups. As for range only used them once and when deer was about 250-300. It didnt exit deer. Seem good for me, but they arnt cheap.

    I have a feeling 37g won't be too hot
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

    Hi VC

ADI list 2208 as 36-38.5 max but will work up from 36 like I did last time from minimum.

Cheers for the heads up tho

Mind telling where that information is from, one thing I have noticed so far researching on the interweb, lots of variation.

    Cheers
