    Barnes tsx vs ttsx ?

Hi has anyone seen any difference between the Barnes tsx vs ttsx a mate loaded me up some 130 ttsx for my 308 to try and I was very impressed(as dropped a small fallow recently with way less meat damage than my usual 150 gamekings) so keen to give them a go but have found some cheaper tsx and wondering what opinions are out there? I’m mostly bush hunting reds/sika/fallow
    Cheers

Think I read on their website the tip was supposed to initiate expansion a bit quicker? Have a look there.

Last year I used several TSX 150 gn in my 30.06 Tikka T3. I shot mainly Sika and a couple or 3 pigs. Possibly one Red also but that could also have been the year prior.
The year before last in the same rifle I mainly used TTSX 165 gn bullets.
With both bullets complete pass throughs are pretty common for me out to 200 yds ( broadside shoulder shots ) and not uncommon further out, just a smidgen less likely.
Tracking wise I think the TTSX track straighter through a deers body on the longer shots especially. TTSX bullets are a little longer than the TSX which might have something to do with it.
Both kill pretty well and I like using them. Based just on last year and lung shots I found the TSX more destructive, causing much more "mush" internally. Post shot, I don't think I saw any difference on whether deer were DRT or ran off a bit.
I handload ammo and find it easier to work up an accurate load with TTSX than TSX but don't know if this is general or just related to my rifles. I refer here to only my 30.06 rifles and comparing TTSX 130, 150, 165 gn and TSX 150 and 180 gn bullets.
Either way you go I think you will find they work well. Something to consider is that it's said that both bullets perform best when driven fast. I wasn't driving the TSX 150 gn super fast ( approx 2800 fps ) to get the performance described above. I do drive the TTSX bullets faster. You may want to step down one bullet weight compared to the cup 'n core bullets you've been using.
Mararoa is right about fastre bullet expansion with the TTSX. Pretty sure this was developed in response to hunter feedback about lack of expansion sometimes with the TSX.
Anyway, hope the comments help and don't confuse. Cheers.

The 100 grn TSX .257 in my Roberts is the worst killing bullet I have ever used in anything.

Never had a problem with 150 TTSX in 300saum cal, 127 TTSX LR .270wsm, or 55 gr TTSX in .223

Probably designed for the higher velocities availible with the 25-06

The TTSX are more aggressive than the TSX

Used the ttsx in 308 a lot. As others have already said they work best going really fast. For the animals you are talking about at bush ranges I would drop down to the 110 grainer. It can be driven very fast even in short barrels and I think the lack of SD actually helps them work better. Will still shoot lengthways through a sika.

Cheers guys for the info! From what I’m hearing so far is the ttsx is the better option, I’m running a 16” barrel nosler brass with 2206h, giving a lot of meat away these days and my current projectiles drop them but can be quite destructive when having to chest/body shoot

There is simply put NO hard n fast rules with monos...well other than they are hard and need to be driven fast to expand. From the extensive testing done by chap in states on the .277 calibre versions.....some are great, others not so much. Subtle differences can make huge difference terminally.drive them fast and aim to break bone is my advice.

Light as you can for calibre, way lighter than conventional is also the way to go for general purpose hunting

You think they are good? Try the TTSX 110gr with 57gr 748. That will change your mind. Funny because I loaded up 100 150gr GMK for my sons mate but I dont think he is going to use them.
