When l was guiding in the UK years ago l got to be friends with a large Estates Game Keeper & his father use to be a Gun Smith of note ,the old bloke was one of the most interesting people l have ever sat down to listen to .We were talking about various experiments with shot gun loads & he had seen shot being made using the old shot towers ,from memory he said (at Eley where he had visited many times)they only dropped shot up to #5 & that the larger sizes were swaged & then rolled over leather mats to round off ,it always stuck with me as l had no idea ,not sure if all manufacturers were the same .
