Yeah thanks... managed a trip to Welly too but then wrecked my rotator so no shooty shooty anyways ( actually climbed out of the sling and tried FTR ) ( with open sights ) but that still ground me down.

Can anyone actually validate that its exactly the same as Belmont 763? @Pommy what was your source?

    Thanks
pretty sure it is my mate got given 5 bottles of it from his mate who owns Belmont to load his 6.5x39 Grendel

So here is a reply from Belmont in regards to 763. Leaves me wondering why they are selling it at all. Hardly reflects much understanding or confidence in a product they are selling.

    Question:

    Hello,

Simple question before I order bulk 763 powder off you:

Is this powder the same as or interchangeable with Alliant PowerPro 2000-MR?
If not, is it similar in its performance?

    Thanks

    Reply:

There isn’t a lot of data out for there for this relatively new Powder. The 763 has slower a burn rate and is suited to heavier bullets above 150gr

    Kind Regards

This hardly instills confidence to try it, so I won't.

Sounds like they copied a blurb. Fuck it. Here's the data I've collected...

    6.5 Grendel, 20" barrel, 120gr Sierra ProHunter
    Starline 1xF, CCI450, Mystery 763, 2.255 OAL
    30.5gr, 2318, sooty shoulder
    30.8gr, 2322, sooty shoulder
    31.1gr, 2349, still sooty
    31.4gr, 2385, still sooty
    31.7gr, 2433, very sooty
    32.0gr, 2484... less sooty
    32.5gr (2.270" OAL), 2545fps, case finally obturated
(I'll be testing up to 34.5gr ASAP)

    6.5x47L, 28" barrel, 107gr TMK
    Lapua 1xF, maybe it's H110, CCI450, 2.610"
    39gr: 2934
    40gr: 2877
    41gr: 3029
    42gr: 3123
    43gr: 3218, 3175, 3213, 3181
    44gr: 3315, 3309, 3265, 3313
    45gr: 3333, 3386, 3386
(went with 2208 as it was less erratic especially in the cold)

    308Win, 16.5" barrel, 165gr NBT
    Lapua Plama 0xF, or PETN?, CCI450, 2.900
    47.0: 2469
    47.5: 2510
    48.0: 2563
    48.5: 2579
    49.0: 2629
    49.5: 2653
    50.0: 2701
50.5: 2715 (max for 2000-MR was around here)
    51.0: 2751
    51.5: 2774
52.0: 2791, primer looking pretty flat, overpressure.
    52.5: 2822, didn't die.

    308Win, 16.5" barrel, 208gr ELD-M
Winchester 1xF, "Belmont Special Sauce", 3.029
    44: 2264, 2265, 2274
    45: 2332, 2327, 2324
    46: 2438, 2363, 2377
    47: 2485, 2474, 2484, pretty warm, but not excessive.

Yo @Pommy - ya forgot to tell the rest of the team what calibre this is!

It's his 6.5 Grendel for anyone who's interested. That 120 Sierra softpoint load is stunning from a 20" barreled mini cartridge. Those 4 rounds at 33 to 34.5 grouped at about 15mm. Very promising!

Tbose are good numbers from the Grendel, and the 308 to be honest.

We now know where that limit is... Whats this stuff cost, looks like it could be a good alternative to 2208?
It seems to be really good in a few specific applications and ropey at best for everything else. It is very cheap compared to everything else on the market, hence why when @Pommy did some digging on it we thought why not, could be interesting to experiment with.

The answer I received was pretty much the same as what tahr got and they would not confirm if they put it in any of their loaded ammunition. Basically seemed to be you try it and let us know how it goes.
Thank you @Pommy I'll start tinkering with it in a 3006 and 9.3 soon and let our know how it goes.

Just to update on an oldish thread.... as always results may vary in your rifle work up slow Bla bla be warned

Just finished a short test of W763 powder as sold by Belmont. I did a heck of a lot of reading up on the webnet about Alliant power Pro 2000MR.
My own conclusion was that they are very likely the same powder.
( as a side note a lot of people were saying PP2000 is the same as CFE223.... NO its isnt an Alliant rep actually got on line and shot this one down in an old thread some where from 2017 )

I shot these loads over a "chrony F1" not everyones favorite but none the less a comparative test.
    Using a .308
This was shot out of my 32 inch barrel using a Barnard action. I also used Lapua S P brass .
I only shot 3 shots of each weight but it gave some basic results and that was all I was after at this stage before pursuing it further.
All projectiles were 155 grain HBC optimas

Reference load AR8208 Av FPS 3071 From a Labradar I get 2990 fps (iirc)

    PP2000MR 49.5 grains AV FPS 2979

    " " 50.5 grains AV FPS 3028

    " " 51.5 grains AV FPS 3106

No pressure signs on primers ( but you hardly expect that with small primer brass ). No heavy bolt lift, all cases extracted easily, measured case bases today no discernable difference across all loads.

Interesting. I have read that Power Pro Varmint behaves in a similar manner in 223, as in loading really heavy charges and getting crazy velocity and no pressure signs - in the range of 2900fps with a 75gr bullet from a 20" barrel. I'd like to try some.
