You gotta spin them beasts mighty fast to be accurate at all. Were going sideways at 10 feet out of my 1:12 twist 308.
Do you already the some ammo or you hoping to a box?
Belmont haven't had 308 (or most ammo) in stock for years now
Standard twist 308 barrels favour a 190g projectile for subsonic loads
A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
What will 1:10 twist handle?
I know a lot but it seems less every day...
200 will stableised in 1:10 so will a big fat 250 gr if you can find any. Why they chose 1:12 as std for the 308 rather than the 1:10 of the 3006 it replaced remains a mystery
Went slightly faster on mil ammo trials...
data point:
308 190gr sub-x works well for me in 1:11
also gives just "green" result here for 1050 fps:

Great tool, thks

Interesting I ran that and the grenhall that it's based on and both fail the 220 gr. You have to remember as rotational speed decreases gyroscopic stability does as well and it's common to see a projectile that's happy at 3000, marginal at 2400, and going sideways at 1200. The "it's perfectly zeroed at 100 but I can't seem to hit anything past 200" can often be explained by this.
Thanks guys
was offered a box and a half but someone else bet me to it.
