    Berdan primers

    I need a good idea to remove these primers from 577/450 cases any help apprecited

    There is a pick style remover that look like a sod to use, never actually had a go though - probably reloaders catalogue will have one

    or get a hydraulic decapper made up if you need to do more than a few

    Hydraulic decapping with water and a rod that just slips inside the case. Bang with a hammer and out it should come...........with some water

    Back out your FL die so the decapping pin just enters the neck. Fill the case with water, put it on the shell plate, raise it up and give the lever a short smart pull. Watch your eyes as the primers eject at high velocity

    It needs a good sharp wack with hammer not a half hearted on.

    Well that worked well did 9 cases and got all but two,which the cases split under the pressure, these were old cordite cases so had some corrosion.i talked to an older, wiser than me, reloader tonite and he said you have to contain the brass in say an old chamber of that calibre or a die made to fit. The process works really well then as there is no springing of the case on impact. next project will be on the lathe making a 577/450 "chamber"
