    Bergara 16.5" 308 reloading

    Hi there,
just wondering if anyone has worked up any loads for a 16.5" Bergara 308 takedown. I have just bought one and would be keen to hear if anyone has done any reloading for one of these and what powders and projectiles they have used before I start buying any reloading components.
    Thanks

look at it from the other end bud...
decide what you intend to do with it....that tells you what you need projectile to do. no point in making up a super duper long range specialty load if you are a bush hobbit at heart and will be shooting reds in scrub at 50 yards.
my bush hobbit load is hornady 180 grn round nose trundling along at 2 grns below book max...it kills job done.

heck pretty much any 125-165grn cup n core soft point will do that.....personally I like to run two loads,a bush hobbit thumper and something flasher incase see long shot in the offing. if you need to build up brass, pick up some winchester 180grn power points to get you going...they are a fantastic bush load that dont kick the user around, the deer on receiving end cop the lot.

I’m about to start loading for my 16” .308. I’m going to use H335 and 125gr accubonds. Nosler reloading says 46.5gr is max load.

This was my load for my 18” 308 I got 2830fps I have now cut to 16” still doing around 2750ish. I did run the 125 accubond still only doing 2800 fps and didnt noticed any change/difference on the recoil side!

Be interested to hear how you get on @stug, that combo (at 3000fps) is the most disappointing load i've used in the 16" 308. Good accuracy but terrible terminal performance. Small sample size admittedly, I know others rated them. I went back to 150gr BTs and nothing has walked away... Used on bull tahr and reds out to 375m.

Out of my 16" 308 I'm running around 42gr of ar2206h behind a 178gr ELD-x Should still be doing 1800fps at over 450 and 1000ft-lbs to over 600 not that I will ever shoot it that far.
I've looked at the lighter bullet setups but I'll take over 40% more bullet weight vs 20% more speed.
The light weight bullets also bleed off speed quickly and run out of puff.

Would go 150sgk, 150 interlocks or 165s in the same. Epic killers

2206H is a great powder for short 308.

Used to use TSX 130 to good effect on Reds in the Bush.

And 125NBT on roof's and fallow.

    Short but fast.

Why were you shooting the roof's?
