    look at it from the other end bud...
    decide what you intend to do with it....that tells you what you need projectile to do. no point in making up a super duper long range specialty load if you are a bush hobbit at heart and will be shooting reds in scrub at 50 yards.
    my bush hobbit load is hornady 180 grn round nose trundling along at 2 grns below book max...it kills job done.
