    berger 140 vld

    need a load recipe for the 140gr vld flying out of a tikka t3/7-08rem,tryed 162 amax on the weekend but projies wouldnt stabilize! only interested in hearing back from tikka owners,cheers.

    Should stabilize out of a Tikka, what speed were they doing?

    The won't always stablise from a tikka it's just the way it is. Just because you got away with it dosent mean it will work for everybody. I've had one that wouldn't stablise them and it was a 280ai going alot faster than a 708.

    didn't chrony the rounds but according to the manual 2505-2645 behind AR 2208,groups were very sporadic vs factory 140gr AB=.5moa,which leads me to believe that the 9.5 twist tikka barrel favours the lighter projies!

    Stability dose not guarantee accuracy and poor accuracy is generally not a stability problem. More likely something else going on there. 1-9.5 is fine for the 162 amax and has worked well in the 2 t3 7mm08s Iv done (though not with 2208, I think Id try a slower powder) 1-10 twist works well in my 280ai at slowish velocities. Berger recommend 1-10 for their 168gr vld which is heavier and slightly longer.
    The 140 vld Iv had success with 2208 in the low -mid 40gr and 2209 in the upper 40's.
