Thread: Best adi powder data

Currently rocking 2208 adi powder for my 308. Love trying out new projectiles but I find it frustratingly difficult/long process to find good powder info on different weighted projectiles. Anyone have a go to website - easy to use and navigate rather than scrolling and scrolling to find what I’m after.

This is all get from them...no actual 2208. Does this mean 2208 is no good to push them?

Neither ADI or Hodgdon (Varget) list 2208 for 110 gr as it is deemed too slow for that weight of projectile.

Have a look at ADI's Powder Equivalents for relative powder bring rates.

@zimmer sorry I’m pretty new to this all... what do you mean by slow? Slow burning rate or doesn’t physically push them fast enough?

You can’t find data for 2208 for a 110gr bullet because ADI has decided it’s too slow for such a light .30 cal bullet.

Which I’d agree with.

You need to be looking at Benchmark 2 / 8208 / 2206h for that bullet I’d think, maybe 2207.

Have you thought to Just ask ADI??. They might surprise you with an answer.

On that note ar2206h seems to have load data for all 308 projectiles....might have to find a pot

2208 probably fills the case before you get enough in to push the 110gr at decent speeds, the 130gr hp load is already compressed.

2208/varget in 308 generally for "standard" loads... 125-200gn pills or so.

Nothing can't be dialed up/down with careful experimentation.

Both I and philH were looking for 308 varmint loads. i got disrtacted, he might have found a recipe...

yeah I should get the book but found it online eventually. I was born in the 80s so I guess I am a millennial! just a baby when it comes to reloading. Great to have the knowledge of those here on the forum to help guide the blind. Plus I’m all for people reading my post and learning without having to be the guy to ask the questions...

Joel, I just use the ADI website.

That is always my starting point. If that does nor work, then google search with powder and projectile weight will get you some basic starting point.

Websites keep being updated, reloading books are out of date almost as soon as they are printed

Gordons Reloading Tool (GRT) is free, pretty easy to learn and is a powerful way to model/compare load data. It's critical to compare the data it spits out with other sources and it doesn't (yet) have every powder, but to my mind it is more important that load manuals nowdays.

Millenials struggle with the weight of holding up a book, or walking across the room to get one I've got five and cross reference all the time.

2206H for the win in .308 everything! 130 Speer Hp going 3250 in mine.
