I agree.
I've heard so many guys raving about how devastating their hotshot 130 grain load is on Sika, Fallow, Reds etc. But they've only shot light framed animals. And when they poke one in to a chunky stag their light soft projectile doesn't penetrate enough to take out the vitals.
This isn't confined to the 270 either.
Sounds more like a gut or brisket shot.
If you can poke a knife into it's chest cavity, penetration from a rifle bullet isn't the issue, it's shot placement.
