I think the biggest factor is how much is your time worth, and because I enjoy reloading and don't shoot a stupid amount (of centre fire anyway), it doesn't bother me to reload.

Absolutely, but when the Hornady stuff shot great out of my rifle, I bought 1500 rounds of it.... working through my last box of 500 now.

Trying the Belmont stuff and Barnaul to see if either of them will shoot well enough. I am not going to handload bulk .223.

the ones that fire have been great through my rifle but have had a huge percentage fail to fire. 5/30 didnt fire and thats through a brand new rifle that has shot 6 other brands with no problems.

Its functioned perfectly threw my howa with good accuracy(only 60 rounds tho)

Well the Belmont steel/nickel plated stuff was no good. Not great accuracy from the AR and got a stuck case after 1 mag, failed to extract. And my stuck-case-hammering-cleaning rod was in the back of my truck. Which was at home.

That sucks. Quite a few guys in our club were running it with no issues.

I might try some more once I get my new adjustable gas block on, and get an extractor O ring. Shot a 3" 7rd group which wasn't amazing.

This is the 55gr load? The 62gr load is total junk

Dont see the point of cheap stuff if it doesn't work.

The point is to find cheap stuff that Does work, 90+ cents per round is too high to shoot 1000 rounds every 2 months

I don't see the point in expensive ammo if it's just gonna splat on steel and pop clays, sodas and rabbits.

Theres no shortage of 55gr Hornadys if you are reloading. Cheap enough to use on targets and great killers.

Dunno about that, the last time I saw the training ammo price it was pretty high unfortunately. Of course different shops will have different prices. i dont really think it will be all that cheap again. the 55gr pill can be had as low as 26 cents each. Good value i reckon ;)

Yes you can buy the Hornady training ammo cheaper than reloading it. Yes you can reload it cheaper than buying it.

Problem is buying supplies to reload in bulk, plus gear, plus time. Handy and cheap if you've got nothing to do from 5pm every night, harder to do if you have wife/kids/mistress with big tits/other hobbies.

Spending money to save money is always a hard argument to support - especially when the arguement is coming from wife/kids/mistress with big tits :D

For yippie .223 shooting it would be cheaper and easier to buy/perk it. I would buy factory if I had a high capacity shooter doing a lot of work.

I can load .223 for time and projectile cost only at the moment. I reckon I get a little better accuracy than good factory ammo. However it is only usable beyond 350 yards in my .223 I dont do much beyond that apart from the odd go at LR varmits or steel.
