A Bit of a Sort Out

Greetings All,
Mutterings about moving into town have started in our house, from both occupants I should add. A quick inspection of the garage and the barn (96m2 in total) showed there is much to do. Today it is likely to be warm and horrible so what better place to start than the reloading stuff. It looks as though it is going to be a pretty big job. Fortunately I have kept reasonable records. First cab of the rank are the handloads and cartridge cases and a sort into likely will use, likely wont use and won't use piles.

I don't envy you the moving task but can relate as my wife and I are reaching an age where will will have to start to think about quiting or lifestyle block (and our alpacas) I have an absolute hatred of living in town, something we haven't done for ~55years.

Yes, we too have lot's of stuff which has acculated over a lifetime. Plus tractor, trailer flail mower, paddock suction which would all have to be sold.

One thing I have done is create a detailed list of my gats plus a detailed list of my reloading gear both with estimated values. It's a "just in case" list to assist my wife manage my shite. (I have recently had a health issue which I'm philosophical about in knowng it will likely return.)

I saw the post and then the poster and laughed my tits off. I’m making a few assumptions here but “a bit of a sort out” has to be the understatement of the year:thumbsup:
My aim is to hold out for another ten years before I have a bit of a sort out but the best of luck mate, I don’t envy you.

Good idea listing value of shooting/Reloading gear.

Greetings all and thanks for your replies,
Work has started on culling the cartridge cases. There is a box of cases for calibres I don't own and a larger box of spares for those I do. Next is to evict the fencing and firewood kit down to the barn after a cleanout there. This may take some time.

We went thru the buy/sell/move fun & games about 6 months ago. Big life style block (42acres) to a smaller one (6 acres). We had a long settlement 6+ months so managed to have a big sort out. Stuff you accumulate over 30+ years is scary. Farm stuff, boat & fishing stuff, kids stuff, horse stuff, camping, hunting, reloading etc etc. Sold off a bunch of things, even though it was not a great time to sell as everyone is skint. 4 or 5 skip loads went to dump. Still have a collection of things to sell but no hurry now we’re shifted. The shifting process & month or so leading up to it was pretty stressful, won’t be doing that again in a hurry!!! One good outcome was to compile detailed lists of reloading stocks & components & parts. So now know exactly what Ive got on hand, what might need topping up & what can be sold off. Thankfully the new place came with a big shed. :thumbsup:

My career in private sector has seen me go Wellington to Auckland to Wellington to Christchurch to Auckland- the wellie to chch move saw a huge clean out as we left the kidds behind- sounds bad but they were adults all.
Next move is to Blenhiem to retire - we (the bank really) just brought a new house down there tenants move in this weekend

So home wise we skinny on stuff now.

xmas before last decided to clear out the junk around the bach in pelorus sound so got Johnsons barge service to bring in a 10m3 skip and we filled the fecker with 50* years of stuff under the bach and chucked in the undergrowth- generators scallop dredges mowers kayaks u name it. Felt bloody good.

Except after this xmas now there’s a old washing machine and a dead mower under the bach….
