Brass from overseas. Permit to import required ?

So on gunworks website they say

"Brass (Police Mail Order form not required to purchase) "

So does this mean no permit to import required ?
I will try and go through this with my local arms office
Just thought someone might have applied and got a written no permit required response

    Cheers

No pernit is required, nor any import licence requirements.

The statement on the Gunworks site is about sending within NZ, not importing from overseas.

I am going to Canada in a couple of weeks and have asked the same question of our Arms Officer in TGA and No Permit is required to bring projectiles and brass into NZ which I have in writing just in case customs don't see it the same way.
My son has informed me that prices are better here in NZ than Canada with there taxes and exchange rate, the only thing they may have a better selection, will report back on how it all goes.

Although no permit required expect some hassles, checked in a carton of 4000 empty 9mm Geco through Wellington domestic Airport. What a drama, they paged me, they called the Police....had to show my pistol license, police told them is fine. I told them it's just metal, nothing illegal. What a palava, Airport security not really that up with the law.
They said I should have told them, I was like tell you something that's not illegal, I did think of that but then thought that would have created more confusion.

Would just courier next time, but had do much problems with couriers a thought prefer to keep an eye on it.

That's good thinking having it in writing, should save some hassles. Last thing you need is missing your flight or having to surrender it under pressure.

Reminds me of when I took a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka into Bali, never drank it and wasn't allowed to take back out and biff it in a bin!

    Hi,
Quick question, where do you find in the arms act that there is no requirement for an import permit for brass in nz?

Not sure where it is in the Arms Act but this is whats on the FSA website
    https://www.firearmssafetyauthority....t-import-forms
    Non-prohibited ammunition
Use this form to apply for a permit to import non-prohibited ammunition.
Note: A Police permit is not required to import ammunition components such as projectiles, empty cartridges, primers, BBs, or airgun pellets. However, you should make your own enquiries about the requirements of other agencies.

Yep had the same with 9mm projectiles on an internal from Akl to Blenheim. I only had carry on and they were inside that quite happily but what a pain that was.

Then had to check a small back pack with about half a dozen items in after a work trip - tried to save about ten bucks on postage and cost me double!
