Can you use AR2208 in .223? And other .223 questions.

To be honest, I'm to lazy to do the reaearch and thought I would just take advantage of the huge knowlege base here.

Can you use AR2208 when reloading .223 or isn't it suitable? It's just that I have a heap of it already.

Also where can I get cheap brass and pills? It is going to be used for longish range varminting so target pills would be the go, or amax? Suggestions please.

I'm not to much of a tight arse but I do plan on putting a fair few rounds through it so cheap is good.

A lot of people would say its too slow and you won't get the velocity. But I use it with 55 grn Barnes and am happy enough with the results.

Yes, that steel cased Hornady ammo is great stuff. My rifle loves it

The Barnaul ammo though is a bit crap, to be honest. I had a lot of stuck cases in my rifle, and plus it grouped like a shotgun, and didn't knock things over that well. I wont use it again.

Keep an eye out for their specials as well. Sometimes it goes down to $30/50rnds.
Its worth getting a box or 3 when on special.

Friend uses 2208 with his 77gr SMK load. Works ok for him. I'd be more inclined to stick with 2206H and 748

Yeah they're real good at knocking over the stinkies.
I use them mainly now for when I can't be bothered looking for my good brass.

Just running up a load now after the cases finish the USC but with 748 [24-25gr] to get that sweet spot.

2208 is good for.69gr and up from my experience. I have found around 55gr pills are best worth .bm2. 69gr 2206h above 69 I.e 75/77/80 2208. Others may have found differently but thats what worked for me (admittedly any of those powders I listed would do all projectile weights sufficiently.I just like testing etc, can't get away from my "research" tendencies )

Hey Toby, just check that training stuff is not full metal jacket. I can't remember if it is or not. FMJ is not for hunting.
223 is plenty good for goats though. As with anything, just gotta hit the right places.
