    Cartridge ID

I don't know if this is the place for this enquiry but with the absence of a collectors corner section I thought I'd try here.
These are a couple of cartridges that have me baffled as to the identity. The first I thought might be 6.5 Arisaka but some of the dimensions don't seem to match.Name: DSCF2010.JPG

The second I thought might be 7x57 but that also doesn't seem to match.....any ideas?

I've been using ""Cartridges of the world""...16thEd to try to ID but still can't put my finger on the IDs... It must be my old age or something.

    Too easy...

Top one is Type 38 6.5 x 50SR for the Japanese Arisaka and Nambu Rifles...as you've picked

Bottom one is Type 89 7.7x58SR for Japanese Type 92 Heavy Machine Guns
In longrange riflery, trajectory is the pure science part. Gravity is a constant for our purposes.
Wind is in the art department.
    Light is pure fucking voodoo.

Thanks guys for all your input....appreciated.
I'll have to look into them more to finally come to a definite conclusion.

Case head markings should be a fairly good indicator if they are Japanese rounds. The Japanese headstamps seem to be fairly well recorded? I have to admit I didn't look at the 6.5Jap as you noted you didn't think it matched up...
