    Case Trimmer

Has anyone used this trimmer before?
World's Finest Trimmer at Little Crow Gun Works
Came across it while doing a search for trimmers. Looks like quite a good idea.

I need to get a trimmer or 2 for my reloading (.223 and 7x57) and am after recommendations please.
    Cheers

IMO Trimming with the shoulder as your datum is not a good Idea.

BTW I wouldn't bother ever trimming 223. You can buy a couple k brass for the price of the trimmer

The brass I've got for the 223 has been fired a couple of times now (in my rifle) and some are just on or over the max OAL. Those cases were a bit harder to eject so I'm thinking they might need a bit of trimming.
I can get more brass easy enough though, so I will get more anyway.

I'm just starting out reloading so I don't mind getting more equipment if I need it eh.

I have a Hornady 2 die set. 1 is a FL and the other is a seating die.

Being on or just over max in a 223 should be no probs at all.
The more the brass is fired the harder it gets.
I dont think that length is your issue -could file a dozen cases back roughly by hand and see if it makes any difference.

If it was me, it would be getting long throated or sold (if the chamber length is short thus causing your issue) as trimming 223 brass would be about as painfull as trying to reload 22 Shorts

It was only a few rounds that were hard to open bolt/eject, and the OAL of them was on max or over, all the others were fine and under max OAL, so I don't think it is a chamber size issue.
I don't mind trimming, it's all a learning curve for me at the moment.

What I mean at max or just over shouldnt make a difference.
Your brass would have to be VERY long and jamming into end of the chamber - you should be able to go a LOONG way over before it becomes an issue.
Never got close to end of the chamber in the 30 odd guns I load for and never trimmed brass for length.
I 'thought' I had a length issue once, but turned out to be a dud batch of brass I had - Highland 270

    Oh Ok, cheers Spanners.
Maybe I just throw those few rounds then. They are Federal so I thought they'd be OK for a few more reloads.

What would cause the bolt to be harder to open after firing?
They loaded OK and the bold closed fine, it was just after firing the bolt was harder to open.
After speaking to one of the RO's (that does a lot of reloading) at the range he suggested to measure and trim the cases.

    Edit: loads were BM2 and 24.5gr and 25.0gr and 55gr v-maxs and 55gr blitzkings

Yeah there are a few PPU marked cases in there, the rest are FC. Both did the same thing.
Don't think I've loaded too hot either as I haven't reached max load yet. I probably will never do so. The accuracy dropped off with more powder. The best seemed to be 24.5gr for the pills I was using.

Don't actually know where I picked up the PPU stuff.
