    Case Trimmers

Hi there, just looking to see what case trimmers people are using and what they think as to ease of use, accuracy, value for money...
I am looking to get one shortly I am currently only reloading 9.3x62, 6.5x55 and .223. Would he handy to inside neck ream as well as the 9.3 has some serious donuts to get rid of.
    Cheers

I have a hornady trimmer which i am quite fond of. easy to use and more then accurate enough it takes standard shell holders which suits me.

Cheers for that! Is that the standard Hornady shell holders only?

I'm using the Lee for 308 and 223, seams to do the job ok for hunting rounds. Quite like their screw up shell holder idea that can go in the end of power drill or just twist with your fingers.

Can also be used to hold and spin a case with a drill, with the neck in a gas flame for annealing for seven seconds and then quench. Well that's what I've read in a magazine anyway for when I get a "roundtoit".

I also use a hornady trimmer, works good. You can hook them up to power drills also with the adapter.Never had an issue with it, in saying that though my opinion is pretty one eyed due to it being the only one I've ever used.
There is one on trade me at the moment for $110 starting bid/no reserve, pretty good deal. You can get them for under $160 new from the shop, if you shop around.

Yep +1, especially for annealing necks!

I have the lee, im reloading for 223, 6.5x55 and 6.5x284 at the moment, lee is good for all the common calibres, but you can use the parent case cutter if its to the same length if its not so common, or get someone to machine down the mandrel.

Otherwise you probably need to use one with adjustable length probably as mentioned above, but a bit more cost involved

Delux Lee Quick trim, quite cheap at $29 for the head and does the length and both chamfers/reams at once, brilliant wee tool does the three cuts squarely.

    Lee Quick Trim 90437

(you'll need a body per case size)

    eg

Lee Quick Trim Die 6.5x55 Swedish 90337

Lee Quick Trim Die 223 Rem 90179

Otherwise the Lee case trimmer that goes in a battery drill bit, cheap and fast.

    Lee Cutter And Lockstud 90110

    plus the mandrel(s).

if you have to do a lot (100+) at once its very good for speed work, also cheap.

Lyman 30Deg VLD internal trimmer/reamer is good as well.

    Lyman VLD Chamfer Reamer

There is a Lyman universal set, but I dont think much of it. I like the internal reamer but the external one not so much I Prefer the cheapy Lee for outside) , and the pocket cleaners that come with it are utter crap IMHO.

They look cool. Super fast with not having to lock the case in. How much was it by the time you got it landed?

A big plus 1 on the little crow trimmers, I have both the .223 and .308 versions and plan to get a .303 one next.

I feel they are the next best thing to a Dillon trimmer

I use the lee lockstud trimmer for my 243 with the case holder in the cordless drill. Before I remove the case I then inside and outside deburr using lyman deburr tool. Then remove case.
