Thread: Case tumbler

After not cleaning my 9mm brass for 5 or 6 reloads, I think it's finally time to give them a clean.

Keen on a wet tumbler, but with building my own (might yet), I think I'll head down the dry media route. Sonic cleaners not appeal.

What are others thoughts and experience on this?

Also, on the bullet feeder; I have better refine this in my head and am about to build a new one, it is less primitive and may actually look more like a brought one

Def wet tumbling with stainless steel pins. If you're building your own just make sure it has a water tight seal, nothing worse than a puddle of water on the floor

Doesn't need to go stupidly fast, just water tight and continuous for @60-90 mins, and then be in a position to separate the media from the cases. I use a rotary separator with a bucket filled of water, pins fall to the bottom while it rinses the cases. Then throw cases onto an el cheapo food dehumidifier for 30 mins, everything spotless, clean and dry.

To be honest I wish I started with wet tumbling years ago rather than dry, less of a hassle.

Does hundreds of 9mm and quite a few 223 on multiple trays.

It will be about to be used as a case feeder too.

I have that part if you could make an affordable bullet feeder that would be great

Cool. The ive drawn the parts in CAD and just need to get them cut and assembled.

I haven't used my dehydrator yet but will give it a go.

Oven works well on 50° with the fan going. The cook hasn't complained.....yet.
I seperate my media similar to Kscott.

That's cos your missus hits like Tyson?

For the time and effort, walnut media / corn cob are far easier especially for large numbers of pistols cases.
Having to dry your cases before loading sounds like a pain in the butt.
The faster you can get them loaded back up, the faster you can get back out there and shoot them all off again.
