Just doing trials in my 22-204 with 80gr ELDM.
I haven't tried anything else, as I don't have 06 or 08. Had over 3k in a 21" barrel with great accuracy. I'll be settling for less speed tho' for case life.
Cant see why it shouldn't perform in a 223 case, it's a slow powder.
    Dirty bitch ball powder too

Yep I tried some loads in my Tikka T3x .223 20" barrel.
    73gn Hornady ELDM
    24.5gn: 2712fps
    25gn: 2790fps
    25.5gn: 2855fps (no pressure signs)

Hodgdon list a max charge behind the 73gm Projectile of 26.2gn for 2990fp with a 24" barrel. I stopped my testing there when I got hold of some 2206H but I reckon 26gns would be fine and should crack the 2900fps mark in my 20" barrel.

I had great hopes for CFE223 in my 223. The groupings were average at best. Some tight but inconsistent. Being ball powder I'm thinking magnum primers may be the solution. CFE223 does give significant speed but it's all for nought if its not accurate.
I've also tried RL15 as a 2208 substitute but it's pretty anemic. I think I was loading up to 24g RL15 under 60g V-max and 65g Sierra Pro Hunters. My barrel is 1:10 so I don't think it will shoot much heavier.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Its my primary powder, in the 6x45, with 75-80and 85gr 6mm bullets, cant see it not working, in .223 with the same weights.

27 grns and 60 grn Hammer Hunter is working for me.
Otherwise I haven’t had much luck with it in .223

It’s excellent with 120 grn in the 7-08
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

I haven't done much testing but the small amount I have done seemed to be as good as my current loads with the .223 which are sub MOA. The only real possible issue I found with CFE223 was the powder is very fine and tend to stick to everything but it does meter very accurately.
