    CFE 223 powder and 7mm08

    Hi everyone,
was just wondering if someone had some good results with CFE223 powder in a 7mm08 short barrel and light projectiles (Nosler BT 120grain, or Sierra 120grain SP used mainly for goat hunting.
I tried some Nosler 120's (Remington std primers/ Winchester brass) and the velocity went just over 3000fps with 49grain powder (1/2grain below max. according to Hodgdon),- but the load showed some pressure signs and the groups where nothing to write home about.
Best results I had so far is with 48.5grain 1' group at 100yds.& the projectiles seated just off the lands.
    Any help/ input much appreciated

Yeah I use it in my 15" 708. I use to use 120gr with 49gr of cfe. But I've now gone to 140gr nbt with 46gr. It shoots better and holds better energy out much further.

I got @septic onto using it in his 16" 708 with 120gr Sierra Prohunters I think. He has awesome velocity and very good accuracy.

Any pressure signs @GWH for the 140 at that amount?

No not in my rifle. But every rifle is different.

.6" groups from my 16" 7mm08 Remington Model 7. 50.5g cfe223 was over 3100fps. No pressure signs on the Lapua brass but over book value so use caution.

An alternative to cfe223 if you can’t get it is blc-2. In my rifle it duplicates cfe223 in 18” barrel. 2800 FPS with 140 gen and blc-2
