    Chamber ringing

I need help understanding chamber ringing. There is info about it on the net but its all Americans practically writing novels about it on other forums and not using layman's term so I still don't know to look out for. A picture speaks a thousand words. Any help will be appreciated.
I loaded some 303 180gn cast pills with 12gn of AP70N, no filler with excellent results in regards to accuracy, grouping and velocity.

Which cast did you use? Source? Doing around 1600fps ?
I know a lot but it seems less every day...

Look back through old Lyman manuals from the 60s, light loads 5 to 10 gr of shotgun powders, bullseye, unique etc no mention of case fillers. Trust the old timers on this.

@Marty Henry. Unfortunately AP70N isn't tried and tested like the ones you listed, so I need to tread carefully but so far so good.

AP70 is a good powder for reduced loads in 303 and 308 . Keep experimenting. The consensus among cast boolit reloaders is that ringing a chamber is caused by using a filler that has been tamped down leaving an air gap between filler and boolit. If using a filler to keep powder against the primer the recommendation is a tuft of dacron loosely filling the case. I have used cast in 303 and 308 using AP70 with good results . My favorite load is a 220 grain boolit and 12 grains of AP70 or Unique.

AP70N is rebranded in the US as Hogdon Universal if that helps

Have a look at the adi single action loads in their manual in big black print "do not use any filler with these loads" 308 isn't listed but as they say it would double the size of the manual to include all cast loads.
When I had a 308 I used 12 grains of bluedot, which is a bit slower than universal that's still my load for the 3030 with a 170 grain cast

Is shotgun powder in short supply too?
I was going to experiment with cast in a 303

Broncos are showing a few Shotgun/Pistol powders still in stock. They also have Alliant BlueDot.
