Hey Guys/Gals,
I've tried to do a bit of research on this but there doesn't seem to be much info around, but I was wondering if (and How) you guys clean the inside of your rifle brass?
I'm coming up to my 5th firings out of my nosler cases in my .270 and was wondering if all the buildup of powder has any effect on the loads from say the first clean firings.

ultrasonic+ 1, I use citric acid and hot water for my solution. You can use a bore brush to clean the inside of the necks in the mean time tho'
Or you could just not care.
Stainless tumbler media will do the same job and empty your wallet far better than ultra sonic ever will.

sweet man so that gets primer pocket and insides pretty bloody clean? i have just been using a standard tumbler but soon get sick of little bits of media going everywhere + the noise + doesnt clean inside.Quote:

I got a sonic and they are magic. Set and forget. Does the job really well.
+1 for ultrasonic cleaner. My $50 one has done a couple of thousand cases now. Just need to refill them and empty them. They are great for the primer pocket/flash hole/neck.

Just replaced the motor on my one.. lasted about 1/2 million cases :)

My primer pocket cleaner tools are now redundant.
Yes. It won’t remove staining but does remove powder build up. I usually give the pockets a quick turn with a hand tool to remove any stubborn build up anyway.Quote:

Good quality SSM kit and you will get brass better than new. It makes USC look like you are in the dark ages.
So for all you inside cleaners.
Have you tested for any difference in velocity/ES or something?
Very keen to hear this to VC, really was the main reason for post, weather cleaning the inside (not just the neck) will have an effect on POI etc.Quote:

Stainless pin media works as advertised in my experience, both inside and out. I made up a tumbler as I thought the 'thumler model B' was over priced once landed in NZ.
I guess the actual measured performance difference between clean/dirty would be negligible.
I do it because I can and I want to keep my dies clean.
I agree, some peening must occur in tumbled brass but I haven't read anything so far to support shortening of the useful life of the case.
Cleaned up my BP brass in. Simple tumbler in the lathe at slow RPM, have tried rice with auto solve and worked well. Then got some walnut media so tried that, spun for half hour, not impressed back to rice mix.
