I spend a lot of time fannying about with brass prep, ya da ya da. Does it make better reloads, probably, but mostly it means i practice shooting a lot

I only partially necksize my cases now. I do neck turn them even though I am not really sure it makes much difference

If doing these things gives you the confidence that when you fire "that shot" it will find its mark then what ever you do is entirely worth the effort

Have you check how concentric the barrel is to the chamber on the rifle, and indeed if the chamber is perfectly round? Just while we are talking tolerances, and to give you something else to worry about hahahahahahahahaha

So Gimp it's true! VC if the thickness of the neck of the brass is a worry, this has to be a real concern! Fcuk me where does it end? Just shoot the bastards and enjoy them

Are you mad, do you know how hard it is to get reliable BC info for broadheads ! I'll have to write to Mr Litz and get him to start working on this ASAP...

Hang on a minute, Macca, are you not the guy who adjusts for loose chamber fit by wrapping another piece of paper around the projectile or using a thicker flannel patch ? Maybe we should not be listening to you when it comes to this extreme prescision stuff

Yep and I banged a 120 gong second shot every with my 1893 martini in 45/70 yesterday! Now I'm I'm measuring paper thickness to ensure concentricity on the match swagged lead projectile to improve the accuracy even more, do you think scooping the black power and not weighing makes any difference to he FPS and should I use LPMagnum or just LR primers, I'm in a quandary and it Sunday

Buying a concentricity gauge is the start of the end, sleepless nights, constant worrying, constant thinking about why why why..... So many variables, more money spent....

In a good hunting rifle, 10 thou runout would not really bother me.
I used to be anal about case run out as that in turn leads to bullet runout and should be all you worry about unless you have seating issues.
But once fired thru my chamber my brass has little or no runout. Good starting point.
I only neck turn for optimal clearance if the batch of brass needs it.
I never use the button on my sizing dies as that can create all sorts of dramas.
My loaded rounds rarely have any more than half a thou run out but as Andy said I have fired some excellent groups with 3-6 thou runout at distance.

To be honest I have had more noticable results in my reloading, and gains in accuracy and ES with my backyard annealing.

If you think about it, 5 to 10 thou of runout should be corrected with some jump by the barrel anyway. Otherwise I think you would see major accuracy issues because of off skew projectiles ripping thru your barrel.

I have had perfectly concentric rounds shoot noticably worse at distance than ones with some runout. Most likely me but I at the end of the day should be the weakest link.
If you have under 5 thou runout and everything else in your control is perfect you should be confident all is well. After all, I don't think anyone is able to release a round and say that one had 5 or more thou runout😆
