Just another reminder to double check that what you read off a page of your book or phone/iPad is what you enter into your scales. Everyone has brain fart moments and this was one of them.

Won’t go into specifics, as I said I wouldn’t, but is a good learning opportunity for everyone. This was the result of putting 10 grains of ball powder over the normal powder charge.

No serious injuries but save to say no more rifle.

Looks a bit like one of Akaroa1's rimfire conversions.

As long as he still got both eyes and all his digits,it's ok.the soiled undies can be washed. Horrible experience for anyone to go through.

Every time i reload a batch of ammo even if I know the load off by heart ill read it from the source I got it from then I will write the load down on a piece of paper and put it in front of where Im doing the powder measuring helps to keep it fresh in my mind to save this kind of thing happening

Another "safety issue" is to put your reading glasses on to be certain before you write it down.. Many of us are in that category..

Am I the only one who think it isn't very helpful to not include specifics? There is plenty of photos online of bubba's pissing hot hand loads and the resulting aftermath

What more do you need?? A whole ten grains of ball powder too much did the damage. So load must be a big case to have that much spare room. As gimp said,it's a good reason to pick a load that fills case as much as possible. I will load powder into batch of cases then eyeball the powder levels inside.too easy to see if something is wrong.

Reading a number from a digital device instead of a normal paper copy was different to his normal process. 74 grains instead of 64 grains.
As I said, complete brain fart

Out of interest, what was the chambering? Asking as I'm not really familiar with loading the ball powders (not interested in buying a stockpile and there are concerns with availability). To me, an extra 10grains is a huge amount and for most cases would be a compressed loading if not a crush load!

Gimp's comment nails it I think too.
