Thread: Dented Shoulders... Bin it?

Hey guys,

I've just come in from the man cave after loading up some pills for my 7-08.

Problem is about half of my cases came up with dented shoulders from FL sizing. Details as follows:
Brass - Hornady (twice fired)
Case lube - Hornady unique
Dies - Redding FL sizing die
Press - RCBS Rock Chucker

Dents appear to be from a glob of excess lube on the inside of the die. Question is - are the dented cases fucked? I've cleaned the die and put them through again but it didn't fix the dents. should I bin the brass or load them anyway?

fire away...wont be any issues with them....I still end up with the odd one like that if get a tad heavy handed with the lube..... dont get it anywhere near as much since going to powdered graphite for case necks....the trick is to keep lube off shoulders completely.

Too much lube, or shit quality waxy lube. Just fire them and they will be back to their old selves again.

since I'm asking questions... I've got a couple of rounds that don't have any powder in (apparently drinking a box while reloading has its perils). If I pull the projectiles can I pop the primers out with the FL die/recapping pin? or will it blow up in my face? I quite like my face.

I just read properly hes using unique which is good stuff, when I startes out I had some lee lube and dented nearly every bloody shoulder no matter how sparingly I tried to use it.

You can pop them out but why would you if they just need powder?

Once you have pulled the pills simply fill with the correct weight powder and replace the pill.

No need to remove the primer.

And yes Drinking a box of piss while reloading is not reccomended
