It's the cost of the shot that makes it unviable. If you happen to mould your own slugs/buckshot or need a specialised load, it's well worth it and rewarding.

Also bear in mid that for specific types of load, a suitable wad and powder is required. If your shells are Winchester it's a bonus too as they are becoming scarce.

    I still reload 12ga.

Mostly because I have all the components.

I also bought a couple of packets of 2's recently ..... less than $20per box of 25 shells is pretty cheap.

    Cheers

I brought 500lbs of lead and a bunch of AA shells in a while ago.
Can't remember what it works out to be but I can load skeet and rabbit ammo for less than I can buy skeet from at the club

I reload .410 16ga and 12ga with lead shot, buck and home cast solids. I buy steel shot ammo.
Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.

yep i reload 10ga, 16ga, and 28ga, works out cheaper for sub gauges, not really worth it for 12ga.
about $3.50 for 28ga a box, way cheaper than factory.

I had a dream I brought one for $720... Woke up to a ding of email of new dillon listings on TM. One had been listed 10 mins prior - new in the box.
    Paid $728 delivered for it.

Also got a as new 650 with extras totaling about $2500 for $600. Guy couldn't get it to work so brought a 1050.
Picked it up 20 mins later.
The primer tube had the pickup tube inside it.. 2 second fix.

Deals are out there.. Just need to be quick

Not much of a savings on 12 ga. but you can save a heap on sub-gauges. Here in the US 12ga is about $6-8 a box for target loads. .410, 28 and 16 ga are well north of $15 a box! And the components are all with the exception of wads.

    Cheers,

    George
