    Donut paranoia

I have heard that even if you don’t neck turn or neck up/down a donut can form after multiple resizings. To avoid potential problems I have also heard it is best to make sure the bearing surface of the projectile is above the shoulder of the case. Is this considered good practice or am I just being paranoid?

It can happen But don't worry about it until it does, Keeping the headspace tight will help only bump the shoulder back a minimum when full length resizing.

I’m not paranoid. I did some more reading and came across the bullet drop test (drop a bullet in a fired case, if it sticks you have a donut). So I tried it on my 6 fired cases and one of them has a donut. I’ll check the rest of them as I work my way through the batch.

and I was always told to make sure to seat projectile so bearing surface is on all of neck....but then I decided it really isnt a huge issue, load to suit my rifle and have been happily ever after since.
