    ELD-M's

I recently developed a good accurate load with 130gn ELD-M in my 6.5*55.
Now I am curious to know if others have used these on game? If so; how did they perform?

Hey mate, don't own a 6.5 but have witnessed quite a few taken with a mate who runs them in a 6.5 Creedmoor. Performance was pretty good really from 50yds out to 450yds. All deer that I observed killed were Sika. None got away and the longest run would've been about 60yds or so.

Mate uses them in his 260, reckoned they were better than the 143gn at longer distances.

Interesting. I was wondering whether they blew apart or not.

Nice. What sort of velocity are you getting?

I only hunt with 143 ELD-X so can unfortunately not answer your question, but I run them in my competition rifle (6.5 CM) at 2815 fps. Very happy with their performance.

If they are anything like the 140s you will be very happy. @rambo6mmrem shoots the 123s and they are nasty on fallow

They are good in most uses especially when used in the heavier weights for calibre. I do think I read about a few that didn't expand as well. I can't remember exactly but i have used 6.5 140s, and 147s, 7mm 162s and 180s, 308 168, 178, 208s all worked great. I did though only run them relatively slow a max of 2800 fps and as low as 2350fps at the muzzle.

    I worked up to 46 grains 2209 in the 6.5*55 to 2860fps but feel 45.6 is best. The top node of 5 shots are 46, 45.8, 45.6, 45.4, 45.2. This group shot at 200m. 1/4moa x 1/2moa. 45.5 will give mv 2835'/s. There was a light crosswind.

Please post your findings once you took the 130 eldm’s hunting. I am keen to hear/see the results.

Interested in trying that weight pill Woody. I use 143 eld-x with 44.8 gr of 2209 @2775 FPS out of my Tikka. One ragged hole at 100.

Yes. I have a good load for them as well but with supply getting iffy I thought I would sort out an alternative.SGK140's shoot very well too with 2209 and are very effective.

I use 208 ELDM in my 300WM. It is very effective at all my hunting ranges in this calibre. Took a raking shot on a small red stag at 600yds and it went in behind the rib cage, and out the opposite shoulder, suffering jacket core separation on exit.

Maybe they're similar construction to the amax?

Exactly the same with a different tip. Replaced the AMAX so hence why they are such good killers. You will find they work better with a slightly lower MV. Always ran any eldms i have used at no more than 2750fps (162 in 7mm, 140 in 6.5 and 168 in 308). Kevin(h&k man) got me onto them and have never looked back. Really keen to hear how the 130s go
