Has anyone noticed a difference when changing from the Eldx to Eldm or vice versa in the same weight class.
I'm not getting what I want out of the M, considering trying the X but don't want waste components if there's no point.
Cheers.

It’s ultimately dependant on individual barrel harmonics
If the m isn’t shooting well it may be worth trying another powder.. however the x has been known to give better accuracy than the m, people do shoot comps with the x.. it’s known as a match accurate hunting bullet
Talking about this the other day. Mine shoots the X real well, tryed a box of the M, tryed everything couldn't make them shoot. Guy pointed out the X create more pressure, and I would agree as they have a slighty longer bearing surface.

What weight is that @flock? I dont use x anymore havent for years but when I swapped from the 162amax to eldx I didnt make any tweaks 85 finnlight 7RM
Sako 85 308W 178g ELDM Shot the 168 A maxs fine, can't figure it after a box though I have had enough, ADI 2208 powder tryed pushing them, different seatings, no avail, stayed with the Xs
I have a stellar tikka load with the M so no doubt would go well in your sako 41.4gns of 2206h win brass fed 210s unbelievable accuracy with an sd of 1 over 3 shots
Saami coal
I've tried H414, 2209, Varget and Staball6.5. I'm consistently getting around 1.1 -1.3 MOA would prefer to see it inside MOA
I tried different coals with no noticeable differences.
If I push it to hard things definitely open up so keeping velocity at 2550-2600 (7mm08)
My tikka wouldn't shoot the 150gr ELD-X or the 162gr ELD-M better than what you are getting until I lengthened the seating depth. 150gr is seated at 73mm OAL and 162gr at 75mm, both shoot sub moa easily.
Rifles are just fussy c**ts of things. Sometimes its easy sometimes its not, what might work well for one rifle wont work well in the next.
One of my creedmoors shoots the 143 eldx incredibly well but wont shoot the 120 eldm under an inch no matter what i do. My 300wsm shoots 178 ELDM incredible but wouldnt group 200gr ELDX very well. Many powders and seating depths tried.
Sometimes its best to just give up and try another combination, especially in todays climate when it comes to components. If your sure its not something with the rifle or your shooting then may be worth trying a different projectile.
I am shooting the eldm 162gr through a Tikka 7mm08 using 41.5gr of ADI 2208. 2580fps and 0.5 moa groups.
I wasn't sure if there was enough difference between the 162 X and M to warrant testing both. Looks like I'm just going to have to get a box of ELDX's and try them.
The 140m shoots slightly better the 143x in my Tikka 6.5 CM.
I'm shooting 162 ELD-X and 180 and 208 ELD-M all accurate in my rifles. I think it's just a fussy rifle thing.
ELD-X has a harder jacket which can push pressures up with the same charge if you switch, so could be wise to drop a grain or so.
Had 67gr of 2217 pushing 162 eldm and eldx in xbolt 7mm RM. Eldm for the win with three holes touching then a couple of POI corrections. Attachment 230894Attachment 230895 now just have to get some more rounds loaded and try and repeat this consistently!
I do have a box of 85 x 162 eldx spare if someone wants to try them…
yep as noted. The ELDM and ELDX are NOT interchangeable.
Different weight's, different jacket thickness and I'm assuming different lead hardness.
Well known that in aprox similar weight groups the ELDX's hit high pressure at lower powder charge weights.
So it's natural that they shoot differently as well.
And different rifle shoot differently. My 243 shoots Berger 87gr VLD's fine, hates Berger 105 gr ELD's (or I ran out of patients first) but shoot 108gr ELDM's beautifully.
