    Elephants ??

Maybe not, still to light for them. Today for the first time I was able to regulate my 450 BPE rifle with a Nitro for Black load. Graeme Wright's book "Shooting the British Double Rifles" and some Woodleigh bullets made for 450 BPE rifles sent me down the correct road. I was able to get 1" group at 50 yds right at point of aim. This rifle has been in the family for 70 yrs and finally it is useable.

The load 65 gr AR2208 5 x cork overpowder wads cut from a floor tile 350 gr Woodleigh set alight with Fed 215 primer = avg 1888 FPS

Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.

That is bloody awesome John, good work on getting it to regulate like that! I would love to get my hands on something like that!

Now you need to take it and bowl a Sambar over with it!

    Spot on James!

It can be very tricky! Like trying to zero your rifle by changing the load instead of the scope, but each time you change the load the scope setting changes too!

    Has driven many to drink!

On and off I've been trying to get it to regulate for 23 yrs.I need to buy a 45-70 just to use up all the .458 projectiles that didnt work. There is something very special when touching off those old DG British Double Rifles. Some shake the fillings loose but mine is rather mild compared to some, the weight of the extra barrel helps tame recoil. If the opportunity arises to fire one dont be shy its very very cool. Drive me to drink? Sometimes.

The brass is Bertram and I have 20 on order from Hornady as they now load 450 Nitro.
