Thread: Enough Gun?

Heading to Fiordland after Red Deer for the roar next couple of weeks for the first time, pretty pumped.

Thinking about taking the 22-250 loaded with 50 Gr TTSX.

My hunting partner will have his 7x57 with 180 softs...

Iv never used a 22-250 they sound pretty cool but 50gr bullets in thick bush , pumped up stags id go bigger

Nowhere near - it's a varminting chambering for coyotes, foxes etc.

308 at a minimum I reckon.
If not larger.

Biggers better.. Gets windy down there. Blow those little peas all over the show...

Sure would limit your options, head and neck only.... 308 or bigger, Put one through the boiler room much bigger target and less movement going on

If you have a bigger choice of caliber that you are comfortable with then take it. It's a long way to go to potentially stuff up a shot or lose and animal.

Nosler 85 BT's are varmint bullets, Hornady interlock 117 BTSP, Berger 115 VLD and Nosler 115 Partions are a better choices

For the sake of upsetting a few people.....rather you take your 22-250 than a couple of sticks & a bit of string
