Thanks for replies lads:thumbsup:
Yes you are quite right i have dialed in .308 them zeroed to give you the true group size!!
The rifle used to make me smile , especially when i would turn up to a shoot and they would look as if to say " whats that heavy looking piece of crap " , then it would shoot groups like this!!!
Location for the picture was at a place in Wales called WMS which has lots of life size bunnie / crow / fox / deer etc targets = a great day out!!!
Some more pics of venue -- engaging targets 500-700yds

Another pic of shooting at the figure 11s at 1017yds...

Bloody great fun as conditions were near perfect witha 3-5mph wind - first round at 1017yds hit centre of figure 11 then next 10 shots was on head of figure 11 ( my good mate Martin was using a TRG in 7.62-51 and was doing the same )
There was a bunnie target face on profile that we managed to hit twice in 10 rounds too!!
The barrel looks real fat but its a aluminum barrel shrould over the target barrel - obviously works well:)
Have had some cracking long range shots on varmints too with this rifle!!:)

There certainly is a case for that. Target shooters used smle and no4s so thats 303 then moved to 308. 303 mil surp was dirt cheap, barrels apparently $5 for 10 lots sold in NZ ex-army. Lots of enfields converted to sporting, mostly ruined the accuracy in the process mind you. I must admit I love my n04 its very handy to say the least, a great battle rifle certianly it leaves the nagant for dead. The 30-06 still seems to be a big seller in the US but 308 seems popular, again cheap, as is the russian mil surp, 54R....I get the distinct impression dirt cheap counts for a lot.
They were accurate and good killers on tahr and reds but no more so than the corelocts, hotcores and interlocts. The price was double those and the thing that pissed me off the most was the plastic tips were so sharp that they ruined the pockets in my favourite buff order shorts that I had been using for hunting for the last 20 years. You only got them when you were posted to Singas or Malaya and I can't get any more so I have a grudge against anything with plastic tips. (My waistline also expanded around that time too;))
11:1 twist.
Have not shot it enough to establish a 'true' level of accuracy as the rifle has only done about 40 rounds yet. When I zeroed it I easily put 3 inside an inch at 100m.
It is also shooting 200gn Lapua subsonics well (1040fps) and stabilized them even below 900fps.
