Fiocchi primers
Anyone had any issues fitting large rifle Fiocchi primers? Have .284win Peterson brass and the primers are bloody tight getting them seated properly compared to CCI200s I have been using. Some sit proud still after a good press in. Pockets are clean. Shops in town had no 200's so thought I'd try the Fiocchis. Only on second firing so they may be useful to keep incase the pockets start loosening up after more firings.

I often find European primers are a tighter fit than American made primers. Why that is, don't know.

I don’t either but would offer the old imperial versus metric as a possible answer.

CIP vs SAAMI specs.
The SAAMI spec for a Large Rifle Primer is a diameter of 5.347mm up to 5.410mm.
The upper CIP spec limit for a Large Rifle Primer is real close to 5.5mm.
So yeah - Imperial vs Metric with some rounding errors.

Thanks for that guys. Didn’t think about imp vs metric so there we go. If anyone wants some cheap Fiocchi primers sing out.

I used Fiocchi LR primers for years. They're not my first choice for serious paper bashing where I prefer CCI BR's but the Fiocchi have always performed very well in my old Omark and my K31s that includes the handloading stage.
I'm sure Peterson (or maybe it was ADG) mention on their website that they manufacture their primer pockets slightly under size ie diameter, on purpose.

With the current famine which will potentially get worse (the Yanks are saying at least a year b4 anything like normal supplies resume) I'd be hanging on to my primers whatever brand they are.nue
