    Fluking Load Developement

Can't really beleive I nailed it out of the box!

Picked up some components for the Wifes 7mm08.
6.5 StaBall, AMP Annealled once Fired Hornady Brass, 210M Federal LR Match Primers and 140gr Nosler Silver Tips.

I am still very much in my early days of Reloading, but have just started playing with seating depths.

The wife was running low on her preferred ammunition so I decided I wouldn't run a ladder straight away, but would throw something together, didnt need to be perfect, just needed to be minute of Goat within 100meters.

Decided a full 1gr below Hornady Max would be the target. So I loaded up a bunch and ran 3 different seating depths; 20, 30 & 40 thou.

Didnt have time to run them over a chrono, but starting with the 40 thou, I ended up with this straight away...

Cold bore to the right, 2 follow ups stacked on the left.

Let barrel cool and another 3 to verify, much the same.
I would say ready to go!

Taken me about 100rnds through the 6.5 PRC to get similar results!
6.5 PRC = 57.3gr 2217, AMP Annealed Hornady Brass, 210M Federal Primers, 143gr ELD-X seated to 20 thou off lands.

    Greetings @kiwi-adam and all,
Perhaps not as flukey as you think. Cases in the modest capacity range like the 7mm-08, .308 and a bunch of others often produce excellent accuracy with loads in the mid to max range often to the consternation of the long ladder test with miniscule steps adherents. This is especially true wher the rifles have tight chamber tolerances. Please take some credit though as the rifle still needs to be pointed well and tha trigger not jerked. Enjoy it as it does not happen every time.
    Regards Grandpamac.

    Well done. Go hunting.
My experience with wide range of different 6.5, 7mm and 30cal calibres including magnums is the accuracy node usually lies within a grain or so of published book max. Generally work up from about 75% book max. Have never bothered looking for accuracy nodes at lower/slower speeds.

sometimes the sense of humour is rather hard to fathom...when easy deer on bush edge rolls down into lawyer infested steep sided creek.....
other times yo uslog guts out all day in trying conditions and shoot one by the car...yip definately has humour.
