I used some 150gr .308's in my RUM. They were really easy to get shooting accurate.
Faark they must have been zoooming in a rum. Bet they killed like thors hammer too.

Well still waiting to hear back about pricing on the GS Customs.
This is in marked contrast to dealing with Bryn (targex) in the weekend who has been great to deal with, promptly replying and providing info, and have ordered some 95gr and 105gr for testing :D

Lol sounds like me. They shot well but I was too tight to shoot at anything that wasn't a deer. Kinda strange though when you consider how much I spend on all the other shooting and reloading stuff.
Talked to Martin and have ordered a pack of 69grs of the GS HV to test and ran the specs of what I should try through quickload for me so have a starting point to go from as well.
Yes the price is :wtfsmilie: but you never know till you try it.

As it's a paperwork day, spent lunch putting the test loads together.

I played with the 95gr in 6.5 an they are great, shot well easy as an went fast.........................:ORLY: really fast

Martin is a good bugger to talk to willing to help all the way an has the info. In my case he was stumpped as well as had never done them for that but got there as well, said no matter how fast i could push them they wont loose more than 30% of its starting weight, i have another 50 to try in mine as well but i guess at the speed they are going will need a few animals in a row to have a projectile to recover to weigh
Ive read some very negative stuff on Snipershide about their BC claims ,id stick with cheaper proven projectilesQuote:

Found that the front bedding screw was almost falling out at home so that has been torqued and locktighted.
Weatherforcast for tuesday looks good for testing but that probably means both roading crews will be working hard out at work and I won't have anywhere safe to shoot!
Will have the GS and the Targex to test at the same time.
El B the BC's of the projectiles doesn't really have must affect for me when 300m is a long shot and 400m is once every couple of years if that.
Barefoot, what sort of range are you wanting to test fire over? Fawning is still happening up the back but if you only needed to shoot over one or two hundred meters then I am sure we could find somewhere suitable on my property on Tuesday evening.Quote:

This was the ladder test I done in the 6.5 at 202m speeds ranged from 3745at min to a weeeeeee bit more:rolleyes:
7 shot ladder, an then a 3shot group at speed was happy with an it went .4 inch at same range so was job done.

Was able to get out and do the ladder test for both the gs custom and the targex today.
Now have to find time load up some real test batches, but the rifle seems to be favouring the heavier targex at this stage.
Down side for the day was my newer suppressor completely spat the dummy. :(
Not sure what caused it yet, need to find the large missing bit to figure it out.
Running my 85 and 95 targex thru the chrony shortly not at it:thumbsup: and they are very accurate low drag hum along pils.havnt tried them on any deer yet but soon.
95s are nice shooting in my girls gun too. Goin surpriseingly fast :)Quote:

I've been thinking about getting some to try in my short 6.5x47
Ended up using the 95gn Targex as the rifle is very happy with them, there's now 600 odd projectiles sitting in the cupboard waiting slow but steady use.
Haven't had time to finish playing with the GS's though but very much on the back burner, rebuilding 2 bathrooms and the laundry is sucking up most of my time at the mo :(

Sniper's Hide were going to do a test of various bullets to determine how the manufacturers performed. The date set for the test was really inconvenient to us as we were in the process of expanding manufacturing from South Africa to the USA and had a host of other projects going. When we were invited by Mr Frank Galli, the owner of the Snipers Hide site, I politely declined to participate, explaining about the expansion, projects and our time line which was already fixed far beyond the date of the test. Also, I feared that the test would be a little biased, given that Mr. Galli was in support of another manufacturer and felt that the best route would be to assume a non-confrontational position.
Mr. Galli became aggressive and tried to force GSC into participation. He obtained some first generation GSC bullets and used them in the test. Despite the negative words written by Mr. Galli, the published table reflected a fair result for GSC.
* The GSC bullets were the lightest tested.
* The GSC bullets were shot at very slow speeds. Three other makes that were heavier were loaded to higher speeds than the GSC SP bullets.
* Mr. Galli then compared the BC obtained through testing, with the average BC of the three numbers given on the GSC website. He thereby compared apples to oranges.
* The three BC numbers given by GSC on the GSC website, are at the three speeds at which these numbers occur. It is intended to be used in a ballistics program.
* If the numbers are just averaged, the fact that the bullet spends far more time at the lower speed and BC is not taken into account. This is taken into account with a ballistics program and with a live test as done by SH and why the two sets of numbers cannot be compared.
* Further, the bullet tested by SH was about three years old at the time and the data from the improved version of the bullet was used for the SH comparison.
* Mr. Galli was informed of these facts very shortly after the test but elected to ban me from SH and let the results stand. I was told by someone, who has the information, that it was a commercial decision and in the best interest of SH.
I have published a corrected table and all relevant information regarding this matter.

It is always a gamble whether the parcel will arrive and, more often than not, we lose. As far as supply and price is concerned, it is unfortunately a fact of life that some things cost more than others.
If the price hike is simply excessive markup/profit, it cannot be justified and it is a rip off. If, however, the higher price is the result of more care taken, a higher raw material price because of quality/features, an absolute quality control system and so on, the price is justified.
If you want to just get from A to B, one can walk or use a scooter or something that else that costs as little as what one wants to spend. If one wants to get from A to B in maximum safety, with total reliability and with a margin of safety when things go wrong or become difficult, transport costs more. This is the way with all commodities. You can sit on a bench made from boards or you can sit on something with padding.
I was once told that if one strives for perfection, even when you come up a bit short, you are still in good shape. We will always do the best we can.

Update
Although I am now using the Targex projectiles, I've had the time recently to use up the last of GS Custom rounds on goats to test the actual performance.
It is fair to say that they do what they say, hole through both sides, good internal damage, not that much meat damage compared to the Targex.
Difference is the kill. Targex seem to be more emphatic, animal dead when I get there.
GS ones were typically still alive when I got there and needed a knife to finish the job quickly however the animals certainly weren't going to live much longer or get up an take off.
