@schwen there is no public land in Western Australia allowed for hunting, so to obtain a firearms licence you need a property letter giving you permission to shoot on their land, this allows you to provide a need to procure a firearm. The bigger the property and the bigger the animals the bigger the cartridge allowed. Every year the firearms law is tightened up so soon you and the landowner have an app to sign onto to say you are on the property what rifles you have how much ammo you have, what is used what is left and what animals you have taken. There is an inspection done by the local council to confirm the pests still remain and the licence can continue to be issued. People in NZ who grumble about access to hunting areas have no fucken idea how tough it is outside NZ.
