H1000-AR2217 Difference?
Bought some H1000 month back as couldn’t get AR2217.
Finally got a load sorted with it for my 7mm rem mag, needed more powderso got some AR2217 as believed it’s same powder,
H1000 69g 3 shot group .4moa, average speed 3020fps
AR2217 69g 3 shot group 1.5 moa, average speed 2940fps
Is that likely a batch variance?
Probably not as easy as bumping the AR2217 up a touch to get same speed to get better grouping...
Or are they different and I’m best to get some H1000 as opposed to doing load development again with 2217?
Cheers

I had argument with a mate about it so I rung the wholesaler who confirmed it was the same.
Unbeknown to me he sent an email to adi as he didn't believe me and they confirmed they are the same from the same pot.
Could be batch diference or one of the other hundreds of variables?

I have a container of AR2217 that also has an H1000 sticker on it.

I have found batch differences between 2225, what was OK with one batch was "more hotter"with the next tin (different batch number)

ADI supply quite a few powders to Hodgon in the States, AR 2213SC is H4831, AR 2225 is Retumbo, to name a few. Most likely slight difference in burn rate due to different batches causing the velocity difference, I wouldn't have thought it would have made that much difference to the group size though at only 80 fps between them.

I would be interested to hear if group sizes improve when the amount of your batch of 2217 is increased to restore the MV back to 3020fps.

Yep I’m interested too, will report back.
I shot the 2, 69g groups 1 for 1 of each powder charge so conditions etc were the same.
The 69.5 and 70 loads of h100 didn’t shoot to good and there was bugger all speed difference between the 69g-70.5 but at 70.5g it shot a very tight group how ever the bolt was a bit sticky to lift with some rubbing on the head case stamping, is that a over pressure sign? Keen to try some more 70.5g as the grouping was tight and speeds were 3120fps shooting a 165g TGK
Just started reloading so could explain some odd results... hmm

Those are excess pressure signs you are seeing on the hotter load, hard to give advice without seeing but general rule would be you need to come down a bit, some people are happy to shoot with higher pressure signs, I'm not one of them
