    H4831sc and H1000 for 6,5x284 w 140 Amax

Anyone have experience with H4831SC and H1000 in short barrels? Will be used in 20" 6,5x284 w 140gr Amax. Was intending the H4831SC, but the internet is full of H1000 recommendations (although I suspect in long barrels).

The only way to find out is to do it yourself in your rifle to see what it likes

While you are at it try some magnum primers.

I'm using both in a 7SAUM with a 22" barrel. Seems to go OK.

My barrel does funny things. No proper V0 with H4831SC (820 msec), good with MRP (840 msec), great with Vit N560 (850 msec) and good with H1000 (840 msec and far from max yet). 20" barrel and 140gr Amax. Would have expected different result.

I use a full case of H1000 in my 26" 260 for 2900-2940 fps with the Amax.

Apparently you will get better barrel life with H1000 compared to N560

The test. Looks like it'll be H1000 for me all the way now.

Found max with H1000 and was suitably impressed! Was a tad stiff, so will back off a little. At first glance, I'm looking at 1/3 to 1/4 the V0 variation with temperature when compared to my regular Norma powders.
