Interesting stuff. Does anybody have an accurate estimate of the g1 or g7 bc of the 162 grain eldm. Quite a few different numbers out there. I use .653 and it seems to match ok but I can’t remember where that number came from.

I use the applied ballistics custom curve and it matches the Hornady 4Dof app at 600m and only varies by .25moa at 1000m.

I’ve validated the AP data at distance and it’s always bang on.

I’m assuming the model used in Hornady app (the BC calculator) is close to their listed BC?

For a free app I highly recommend the 4Dof for use when comparing different loads and projectiles. It convinced me to chop 3” off my barrel by plugging in data and seeing I would only lose 1/4moa in wind at 600m.

It's really amazing the fantastic BC of the seven mm group and how it should outperform all other calibers, yet a world record was set recently with ten shots in the ten ring at 1k yards using a 300 wsm. It's all bling, even a shitty 277 would perform above average if they produced decent BC projectiles for it.
Give me the good old days where hunters hunted like a Hunter.

As a general rule, multiply a G1 BC by 0.55 to get the G7. In fine detail, there's no substitute for a real verified BC but it'll be pretty close up to say 600yds.
