Just an idea I'm thinking about, has anyone necked a 7mm Rem Mag down to 6.5?? If so what is it called? and what does it shoot like?

VIVA LA HOWA
6.5 rem mag dies on ebay.com from time to time.
The 6.5 rem mag was made within about an hour of the 7 mm rem mag being released in the states
A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
I have got one of the origonal 6.5mm magnum calibers the 6.5x68 it was designed in the 1930's mine will push 140 grain bullets at 3100 fps with only 65 grains of old H4831 that is only 5 grains more than a 270 with 130 grain bullets but the 6.5 bullets have a better B.C.
I have a reamer and go gauge that I may hire out for a fee Depends on gunsmith
It seems what I'm looking at is the .264 Win Mag. The 6.5 Rem mag case is a lot shorter than the 7mm case. Has anyone here had any experience with the .264?
Yea in my opinion its an over bore without the performance. Take a look at the 6.5/284 its much more efficient offers greater barrel life and isnt far off the winmag in velocity or the 6.5wsm which will beat the 264 for speed but is also a bit if a barrel burner. 6.5x55 A.I is an underated cartride aswell as 260A.I im guessing with the new powders around the 264 could have some new life in it and was and is still a capable round if its what you really want.

I would call it a barrel burner, a 6.5/284 is bad enough, with the rem mag case capacity even worse.
