Has anyone loaded any heavier pills for a 22-250. I usually use 55Gr Sierra matchkings but thinking I want to try something a bit heavier for the odd time I get caught out needing a larger calibre.
Almost forgot 1-12 twist
Thanks

The 63gr Sierra and 70gr Speer semi point are your two real "heavy" options with a 1 in 12.
I'd go with a lightweight Barnes and drive it stupid fast.
Resident 6.5 Grendel aficionado.
I've used the 63gn Sierra's and the 60gn Hornady's for years, for everything from wascally wee wabbits, right through to big bulls, stags and pigs. Can drive em plenty fast enough with the '250. but the 70gn Speer's just didn't want to cooperate, too slow, poor accuracy. Thats in a 1-12 Tikka
Mr Max just put a brand new 1.12 barrel on the old 788 so it's the 60 grain partition or the 63 grain Speer for her, going bloody fast I wouldn't want to be in front of those. I was reading about a cull hunter in Texas shoots the 60 grain partition out to 300 yards no problems in a 1.12 22.250.
I used the 70 grain Speer in a 1;14 Remington, they were awesome. Shot well, killed well. Never got one back, but they killed like a much bigger bullet.
