Yep, did it in 30-30 and in the 308 too. I think it gives a pretty consistent neck tension. Projectiles won't move after I crimp them. Have a look on TM or on here, Factory Crimp dies are easy to find @kiwiswede

Nothing is tough about having a 70 lb bow and looking like an uncoordinated praying mantis while trying to draw it back.
Wind your sizing die down another quarter turn or anneal the cases then resize, neck tension should be tight enough then.
Thanks for the pointers team. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

no it wont expand...and all the added weight will do you no good if it just sails on through the other side...the 151s penertrate enough as it is....
There are other guys here far more qualified to comment like @tikka and a few others than I but when I was playing with subs in 308 years ago the only jacketed projectiles that would expand were pistol hornady xtp? 90gr....they definitely expand but my testing on game was very limited to a couple of pigs and a couple of goats all at less than 50y and they definitely expanded and all 4 exited.
Now if doing the same I would be looking at Roberts 150 hollow point or the flash segmented projectile if useing on game was the end goal.

"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.
308Win One chambering to rule them all.
As @mickyDuck said, no point going heavier. 151hp expand a little, but generally punch through, there are some photos somewhere on the forum. If you are going for deer dont much around and use lehighs 168 CF. They are like little grenades. Many dont use as they have 'slow' twist rate barrels . You need 1:8 for lehighs. There have been some who run a large projectile and use the tumbling. I dont think you could do this with 1:8".

I forgot to mention, I dont think you can go lighter than ~150gn with 308 Win as you'll end up less than 1/2 your case full and risk double detonation. I have been told this is around 6.5gn for trail boss. I have never tested/measured. Someone else here may know more about this.

Good to know @veitnamcam. What were you using the 90gr xtp on? Thanks.

151 cast HP travelling lengthwise from a good size billy about 40 yards at mouse fart speed. They usually make 2 holes so you won't find too many. Chest shots can be slow killers if you only hit one lung. I found animals can behave a bit like when hit by an arrow. Head/neck shots are just like with standard rounds if you hit the brain or spine. @kiwiswede @lmlalong
