Thread: HELP! Powder coat not sticking

Hi all, I need some with powder coating. I acquired some powder coat powder today for free, so tonight I decided to give powder coating a crack. Well, I couldn't get the powder to stick to the bullets. Tried preheating the bullets for 30secs, no luck. Tried 1min, still no luck. tried 1.5mins, started to stick but thick and blotchy. tried 2mins, stuck all over but way to think. Whats the trick to get powder to stick, cover evenly and not too thick? I baked a few to see how they would turn out but terrible. One that got a even but thick coating look ok but where the gas check sits on was full of powder and there'd be no chance of getting a GC on.

A friend go mine powder coats his bullets, don't know what system he uses but he washes the bullets in Acetone before coating them.
