Thread: Hornady 143 6.5

Just worked up a load for my .260AI with the new 143grn settled on a powder weight and was checking with differant seating depths and was surprised at the difference.
Shot best at 5 thou off the lands the others were about 1.5 to 2 inch groups.

Hmmm ..... 5 thou leaves very little room for error, and the 1.5 - 2 in sound like they're really fussy pills. Perhaps the old 140 AMAX's with the "melting tips" were better !!

I will be hopefully trying some in my 260 ackley tomorrow if conditions are right.

Only changed seating depth from my pet Amax load but still at .308 mag length. They can be seated further out if needed and I will use the LA mag.

Yea fitted in the .308 length mag in mine and 1 gain less powder than the 129 Hornady

We need a few members to go out & shoot a few animals with them, see if they live up to the hype & work.

Off for my roar hunt with them on the 8th so all going well I may get to try them.

I'm going to get a box this week and see how they go, I need to re-do loads for my .260 anyway since I have a new powder lot so I may as well switch to these now instead of when I burn through my last 500-600 amax
