    Hornady 75gr ELD-M in .22 cal

I've got these new ELDM rounds sorted in my Tikka .223 1:8 with 23gn of 2206h, 62.11mm OAL @ 2780fps shoots under 1/2" at 100m. I've shot 5 deer with it now, 2 good sized reds and 3 fallow, ranges from 25m to 195m all neck or head shots, all shots hitting bone. It seems anything close as in under 50m with an impact speed of around 2700+fps and hitting bone = explosive, fist size exit hole/damage however if the range is further so speeds drop off to say 2500fps you get really nice reliable expansion.

This red was shot at ~100m through the neck from above as it was laying down, the pill mushroomed and hit the punga to the right (cbf digging it out) but by the exit hole which i could fit 3 fingers in hole, the pill didn't blow up, he did not even twitch, literally laid its head down slowly. The eldm smashed the neck, I only needed to cut the muscle as the bone was shattered.

Fallow shot back of head (see drop of blood) @ 195m, the pics speak for themselves.

One thing to note is this load is extremely quiet through the DPT can, I had a 53gr Vmax load @ 3200 fps and there was a noticeable loud pop but nothing like that with the 75gr load.

Do these fit in a standard mag? I'm using factory (64gr Winchester) but the guy I bought the rifle was handloading 75gr pill but couldn't fit it in the mag

No, mag will need to be lengthened, you can do it or pay someone to do it.

just thinking forward that projectile could be real nasty in my 1/8 22/250 ?

Got a good brew sorted. Top stuff. Not used my 75gr AMAX yet. Too many tracks to do. Surprising results because the hunting pill is designated X not M at least in the larger calibres.
